Subsidy for Facility & Equipment Rentals Application Guidelines

Application for "(A) Subsidy for Facility & Equipment Rentals" has been closed on February 28, 2021.

1@Overview

50% of the facility & equipment rentals (max. JPY 400,000/day, 5 days, and thus JPY 2 million).

2@Target

Individuals/ organizations providing wide cultural & art appreciation opportunities for Kyoto citizens and other audiences.

3@Target Activities

Activities fulfilling the conditions below.

  • (*) Implementation from 1st October 2020-31st March 2021.
  • (*) Activities held at public facilities or approved private facilities in Kyoto City (theatres, musical halls, Japanese Noh halls, auditoriums, live houses, galleries, event venues, and other facilities for cultural and art activities)
  • (*) Please contact us through email if the venue of your activity is not on the list (limited to facilities in Kyoto City). Application can be accepted after applicapble facilities are registered.
  • The list of registered facilities
  • (*) Any cultural and art activities stated in Cultural Art Basic Laws Article 8-12 (Applicable for cross-genres activities).
    • (A) Literature, music, fine arts, photography, drama, dance
    • (B) Movie, manga, animations, and arts of computers or other electric devices (e.g. media art)
    • (C) Gagaku, Noh, Bunraku, Kabuki, and other traditional arts such as Kumi Odori (group dance)
    • (D) Kodan, Rakugo, Rokyoku, Mandan, Manzai, singing and other Japanese arts
    • (E) Life cultures (tea ceremony, Kado (Flower arrangement), calligraphy, food culture(*1) and other general entertainment (Igo chess, Shogi chess, etc.)
    • (F) Others, combination of the above
    (*1) Not applicable to activities with a primary purpose to provide food and beverages. The target of this subsidy is activities to provide wide cultural and arts appreciation opportunities to citizens and other audiences.

  • (*) Activities that with implementation of COVID-19 preventative measures based on the guidelines of their industry.
    Please refer to this website for examples in various genres (Office for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Japan).

  • (*) Activities focus on performance/exhibition for a non-specific audience (including facilities for live broadcast).

  • (*) Activities NOT included
    Workshops, lectures, seminars, etc./ academic conference, presentations, ceremonies, and activities open for a specific group of audience/ religious and political activities/ business activities for products or membership promotion/ activities organized by Kyoto City or Kyoto Prefecture/ activities planned and organized by the venue

4@Target Expenses

  • (*) Target expenses are listed in the table below.
  • (*) Including all implementations, rehearsals, and move-out at the same venue.
  • (*) Copies of the official receipt and invoice with all breakdowns are needed for the subsidy.
Facility fee Usages fees for theatres, musical halls, Japanese Noh hall, auditoriums, live houses,
galleries, event venues, and other facilities for cultural and art activities (Dressing rooms are included)
Equipment rental fee Usage fees of stage, audio equipment, lighting, visual devices, display stands,
partition, projectors, and Internet usage fees, etc.
Usage fees for equipment such as musical instruments, music stand, podium, lectern
personnel costs of technicians, theater staff expenses.
Others, utility costs, and piano tuning fees, etc.

5@Subsidy Amount

  • (*) 50% of the total of the facility & equipment rentals fees.
  • (*) Max. JPY400,000 (consumption tax included) per day.
  • (*) Max. 5 days; including the implementation, rehearsal, move-out, etc.
  • (*) Limited to 1 application for 1 activity.
  • *Activity cancelation fees after the application is not included as target of the subsidy.

6@Subsidy Application

(1)@Application Period

19th October 2020 (Mon) 10am to 28th February 2021 (Sun) 5pm (with a valid postmark in post)
Application may close early when the application amount reaches our budget. We will release the newest information in our website.
(*) Application can be made after activities (within the captioned effective period; not applicable when the total application amount reached our budget).

8@Activity report

Successful applicants need to submit an activity report in the format below within 30 days after the activity and before 10th April 2021.

Please submit the copies of the following payment confirmation issued by the designated facility.
(1) Receipt, etc. (2) Specification, report, or invoices with the payment breakdown
(*) With the name of the applicant and clear statement of the facility usage date.
(*) Documents to show the details of the activity (flyer/direct mail, pamphlet, photos of the activity)
